Wednesday, September 13th

Well, Consequence is officially 16 years old today.

I should note that I am pretty blind to time. It feels like just yesterday that we were celebrating 15 years on the worldwide web with a fresh re-ranking of the 100 greatest albums and a bunch of other cool content. It also feels like just yesterday that I, as a 20-year-old college kid with absolutely no qualifications to speak of, was publishing a Hot Chip album review on a blogspot after being rejected for a job at my college radio station.

As anyone who knows me can confirm, I don't seek or revel in congratulations or praise. I am always looking forward at what's next. It's really the only way to survive in the media industry.

Even so, I can recognize how fortunate I've been to be propped up by an incredible group of colleagues. You're only as good as the team around you, and throughout the last 16 years I've worked alongside some of the very best. You know who you are. Thank you.

And to anyone and everyone who is a reader of Consequence -- from the OGs who supported us in the very earliest of days, to those who only recently discovered us -- thank you, thank you, thank you. Please know that I take not a single one of you for granted. It's why, 16 years later, I'm still doing this thing, day in and day out.

I have plenty more thoughts to share, but I'll save that for the 17th anniversary -- or maybe a book down the line (hah). But for now, if you have a specific question about the history of Consequence, how we operate, or anything else, feel free to drop a message on Discord and I'll do my best to answer it later today.
